inPolitical Correctness and The Stereotype of Races, Gender, and Religion Essay Sample
In “Why You Shouldn’t Be Politically Correct,” Anna Munsey-Kano argues that, while the goal of political correctness is good in theory, it is often ineffective in practice because it is difficult to avoid offending people. She further argues that, in order to avoid interpersonal conflict and discomfort, political correctness often causes people to avoid discussing important topics altogether. Munsey-Kano uses the example of social media to illustrate how, instead of promoting open discussion, political correctness often results in “Social Justice Warriors” who are more interested in defending causes than in actually understanding them.
