The essay “The Positive and Negative Impacts of The California Gold Rush of The 1849 on Westward Expansion in The United States” does a good job of discussing the positive and negative impacts of the California Gold Rush on westward expansion. The essay covers topics such as the addition of California as a state, the removal of Native Americans, and the stimulation of economy and monetary instability. The essay also does a good job of providing examples to support its claims. However, the essay could be improved by providing a more in-depth analysis of the negative impacts of the Gold Rush. Additionally, the essay could be more concise, and it could use more academic sources.
How Movie is Better in Portraying The Story of The Great Gatsby
The battle of books being better than movies or vice versa has been going on since movies were first released. We live in an era where everything can be obtained instantly and are available at the tip of our fingers. Therefore everything is rushed and people do not have time to waste. Books take too much time and are not necessarily important or seen as entertainment anymore. It is much easier to watch a movie for an hour and a half then spending days reading a single book.
Movies are more convenient to use for entertainment than books as they do not take much time and everything is visual. The film The Great Gatsby by Baz Luhrmann
In “Death and Justice: How Capital Punishment Affirms Life”, former New York Mayor Edward Koch argues in favor of the legalization of the death penalty in New York, claiming that it would save more innocent lives. Koch provides compelling evidence in the form of statistics and real-world examples of murderers who have avoided the death penalty and gone on to kill again. However, he does not consider the possibility that the death penalty could be wrongfully applied, and that an innocent person could be put to death. Furthermore, he does not take into account the emotional toll that the death penalty would take on the families of victims. In the end, I agree with Koch that the death penalty should be legal, but only if the family of the victim
The death penalty is an inhumane punishment that should be abolished in the United States. The high costs that come with capital punishment are a definite con when you consider the comparison of this type of case vs normal cases. Cases in which the death penalty is gone after are more expensive and take more time to solve than non-capital cases. The added money is due to legal representation, enhanced security for death row, and the costs it takes to go through the motions of a trial such as this. ‘The additional cost of confining an inmate to death row, as compared to the maximum security prisons where those sentenced to life without possibility of parole ordinarily serve their sentences, is $90,000 per year per inmate”. With California
In the play “The Crucible,” Abigail Williams is one of the main characters. She is a young girl who is very deceitful, vengeful, and selfish. Abigail is motivated by her own interests, which often conflict with those of other characters. For example, she accuses Elizabeth Proctor of witchcraft in order to be with John Proctor, even though it results in the death of many innocent people. Abigail’s character is very important in driving the plot of the play.
The Crucible is a play based on a true story by Arthur Miller. It is set in 1692, in a small village called Salem, which, Due to a series of events started to have witch trials. The story counts with many changes leading to an inflection point where Salem starts to fall in decadence. John Proctor is a character who had an affair in the Crucible. Overall, the essay makes a strong argument for the benefits of legalizing abortions. It cites many reasons why abortions should not be banned, chief among them being that women will resort to dangerous methods to terminate their own pregnancies without medical help. The essay also makes a strong case for the right of women to make their own decisions about their own bodies.
I thought this essay was very well written. It makes some very valid points in favour of online learning. I also liked the way it addressed the potential drawbacks of online learning, and showed how they can be overcome.
The ending of Of Mice and Men is seen as a tragedy by the readers, following the death of Lennie. Nevertheless, it holds the key ideas that Steinbeck wanted to present to the reader concerning society during the Great Depression, such as how they were unable to understand the concept of friendship. It also shows to the reader the death or beginning of themes that ran throughout the novella.
The opening of Chapter Six is seen as a mirror to the beginning of the book and description of the setting in Chapter One. This cycle created by Steinbeck may be used to hint at the cyclical nature of the ranch workers and how they will keep moving onto new ranches and jobs. This cycle is shown by referencing the
